Job Description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full-time instructor position, to begin in January 2022. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of continuation dependent upon performance.
Duties will include teaching undergraduate mechanics courses in topics such as statics, dynamics, and solid mechanics, as well as undergraduate laboratory courses in biomedical engineering. Additional opportunities may be available to teach other undergraduate courses in engineering science and mechanics and/or biomedical engineering.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a M.S. in Engineering Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline, by date of hire, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours of courses related to engineering mechanics.
Preferred Qualifications
• A Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Teaching experience in a university or college, especially in courses involving engineering mechanics
• Knowledge of bioinstrumentation and cell engineering
• Teaching experience in a laboratory setting
