Interim Lower School Physical Education Teacher Department: Lower School Location: Bethesda, MD

Status: Full-Time
Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker day school with campuses in Washington DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a full time interim Lower School Physical Education teacher for the 2021-22 school year.
The Lower School PE program is designed to encourage good sportsmanship, teamwork, a healthy sense of self and a lifelong enjoyment of fitness and physical pursuits. In the early childhood years, the focus is on building childrens body control and gross motor skills. As students progress through upper elementary, they are exposed to a variety of individual and team based learning experiences that prepare them for middle and upper school athletics.
The ideal candidate will have a strong Physical Education background that includes both teaching or coaching elementary and early childhood children. The candidate should have a collaborative spirit, an interest in building community within and beyond the classroom, a strong commitment to nurturing childrens individual talents and passions, and a commitment to our Quaker values.
Additional duties include building programming, collaborating with the middle and upper school athletics teams, overseeing recesses and designing our annual Field Day celebration. This is a campus-based position and requires working with students and faculty/staff in person.
Qualifications:
- A BM/BS degree in Physical Education (or comparable degree)
- Lower School Teaching Experience
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position, with typical work hours from 8:00 am- 4:00 pm and is located on our Bethesda, MD campus.
