Washburn University’s Department of Art and Mulvane Art Museum invite applications for the full-time position of Donald B. and Twila Catron Lecturer in Art Education and Public Outreach beginning August 2021. This position is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment, with potential renewal for additional years. Salary is entry-level with benefits.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s or terminal degree in the appropriate field
• Minimum three years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching art education at the university level
• Five or more years teaching in K-12 public schools
• Proficiency with reporting and assessment activities associated with public education, teaching licensure, and accreditation
• Experience coordinating art in public spaces and developing projects that address issues related to social justice and/or underrepresented communities
• Excellence as demonstrated through innovative teaching approaches, portfolio of student work, robust artistic practice

Responsibilities:

• Advise students pursuing either a BFA in Art Education with Teaching Licensure or Art Licensure Only
• Supervise and evaluate student teaching and manage art education field experiences
• Serve as Art Department liaison to the Education Department
• Develop/maintain relationships with regional in-service art teachers
• Teach studio courses in art education, foundations, and/or coursework representing specialization
• Collaborate with Mulvane Art Museum staff and faculty to develop and create exhibitions, outreach activities, and/or educational programs
• Participate in professional activity and service in conjunction with the Art Department and Mulvane Art Museum
• Coordinate designated outreach activities, such as High School Art Day
