Position Summary:

OSU-Cascades in beautiful Bend, OR is seeking a Machining Shop and Maker Space Manager. This is a full-time, 12-month, professional faculty position.

 

 The Manager of the Machining Shop and Maker Space is broadly responsible for teaching and training within the spaces, training students, faculty and staff on equipment and safety and supervision of them while utilizing the space, and supervision of lab technical staff. The Manager of the Machining Shop and Maker Space is also responsible for facilities management and oversight for the engineering teaching and research laboratories, and budgetary oversight for these efforts.

The anticipated start date is September 1, 2021 dependent upon candidate availability.

OSU-Cascades is a campus of Oregon State University (OSU). It is a small and personable four-year university in beautiful Central Oregon. There are over 1,300 students with 175 faculty and staff. We are the only university in Central Oregon that offers both baccalaureate and graduate programs. Our 10-acre campus is the first public university to open in Oregon in more than 50 years with plans to expand academically with new degree programs over a 10-year period. The campus is comprised of 4 OSU-Cascades buildings with a 5th currently in construction. The Machining Shop and Maker Space is located in the new building opening this Summer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related area is required.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
