SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Admission Counselor is responsible for increasing enrollment of qualified undergraduate students and meeting yearly enrollment goals for Schreiner University. This position requires extensive travel throughout the year. The Admission Counselor’s primary tasks are to generate inquiries, applications, interviews, campus visits, and commitment fees for all student populations in the assigned market area(s). Additional responsibilities include developing leads, attaining goals for market area(s), meeting with parents and students on or off campus, visiting feeder schools, community colleges, hospitals, and attending college day/night programs. Tele-counseling is required to develop leads during the recruiting season and peak periods. The Admission Counselor communicates the features and benefits of attending Schreiner University and demonstrates how financial aid creates access to such an education. The Admission Counselor meets and advises Online RN to BSN and LVN students through the enrollment process and academic advising.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Represent Schreiner University professionally and ethically at all times.
  • Responsible for meeting yearly enrollment goals for assigned market area(s).
  • Increase the number of qualified enrolled students by persistently communicating with and servicing a dynamic population of prospective and admitted students.
  • Disseminate information relative to admission, transfer credit, scholarships, financial aid, and academic advising.
  • Primary online RN to BSN advisor through the course of the degree plan.
  • Support the planning and implementation of new recruitment initiatives about the online RN and BSN and LVN programs.
  • Cooperate, collaborate, and communicate professionally and effectively with diverse constituencies, including faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and counselors.
  • Coordinate with admission and financial aid staff to ensure a student’s successful transition into the RN to BSN or LVN programs.
  • Counsel students on undergraduate admission and financial aid processes
  • Evaluate transcripts for incoming students.
  • Process admission decisions, evaluate transfer credits, advise students regarding the financial aid process, and personalized degree audits.
  • Ensure that all required documents are on file before (1) admitting, (2) sending to the Registrar for transfer evaluation, or (3) forwarding to the Director of the Learning Support Services Program.
  • Represent Schreiner University at college day/night programs, receptions, alumni events, and other approved functions.
  • Market on-campus programs to students while assisting in the planning and implementing of recruiting events such as Schreiner Saturday, Juniors in June, information sessions, and other activities.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to travel extensively. Overnight travel for approximately eight (8) weeks throughout the year is expected.

CONFIDENTIALITY

  • Maintains the highest level of confidence concerning all matters in the Facilities Services Department. Does not discuss in any manner any information obtained through work in the office.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred
  • Willingness to work weekends and weekend hours to meet job requirements.
  • Strong computer skills required. Must have the ability to use the Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Calendar).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt and persist regardless of setbacks.
  • Possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude with a strong desire to serve others.
  • Possess extensive job knowledge in college admission-related work and understands its role in serving the institutional mission.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to set goals, organize and prioritize daily activities, be detail-oriented and exercise necessary follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently to meet job requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to listen attentively, convey understanding and persuasively communicate the value of Schreiner’s education to various constituencies.
  • Sales ability to “close”.
  • Use of sound judgment, maturity, and responsibility.
  • Driving required; therefore, the candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance, and good driving record.
