Job Summary

 

The research faculty will be working with and reporting to the dean of School of Education, Dr. Penny Hammrich. The research faculty will be involved in grant writing and conducting multidisciplinary research in collaboration with the dean and other faculty within and outside Drexel University. Specifically, the research faculty will be involved in projects that focus on the examination, evaluation, and integration of evidence-based practices from the learning sciences, STEM education, and Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE) sciences into K-12 and higher education curricula. Part of this research will be focused on innovative post-pandemic pedagogies for enhancing online and blended instruction, instructional design, and professional development for undergraduate and graduate education at Drexel University. This position will also involve application and evaluation of innovative distance learning technologies in combination with brain imaging tools in the context of STEM education, learning sciences, and MBE sciences research. The research faculty will be actively involved in writing for publications and presenting research findings at national and international conferences.

Appointment Terms

The anticipated start date for this position is August 01, 2021. This is a 1-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon funding availability.

Essential Functions

  • Research focused on innovative post-pandemic pedagogies for enhancing online and blended instruction, instructional design, and professional development for undergraduate and graduate education at Drexel University.
  • Application and evaluation of innovative distance learning technologies in combination with brain imaging tools in the context of STEM education, learning sciences, and MBE sciences research.
  • Active involvement in writing for publications and presenting research findings at national and international conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate, Education, Educational Technology, or Learning Sciences.
  • Minimum 1 year experience.
  • Experience in conducting research in STEM education, learning sciences, online and blended learning, cognitive sciences, and/or related areas.
  • Experience in mixed-methods, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies.
  • Experience in using both qualitative and quantitative data analysis software.
  •  Established record of scholarly publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in integrating innovative learning technologies and brain imaging tools in STEM education and learning sciences research.
  • Experience working in higher education settings.
  • Experience in developing innovative learning technologies/tools.
