Description of Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor of Accounting's teaching responsibilities will include a three-course per semester load. In addition, the Assistant Professor will be expected to pursue a research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications in academic or professional journals, remain current on developments in the accounting profession, and advise students on completing their degrees and on starting their careers after graduation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in accounting or related field, ABD candidates accepted with degree completion no later than March 1, 2022
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications, particularly a CPA license
  • Professional experience
  • Teaching experience at a four-year university level, preferably in an AACSB accredited business school
  • Thorough knowledge of current GAAP is desired, along with knowledge in at least two of the following areas: financial accounting, auditing, federal income tax accounting, accounting information systems, and data analytics.

Description of Department: The department of Accounting Finance & Law is part of SUNY Oswego’s AACSB-accredited School of Business. Other undergraduate degrees offered by the School of Business include business administration, human resource management, marketing, and operations management. The School of Business also offers a highly ranked "Fortune 50" Master of Business Administration program with degrees in management, health service administration and a five-year accounting program (BS/MBA). Approximately 100 students per year graduate from the accounting program. Accounting students are actively involved in Beta Alpha Psi, the Accounting Society, and the SUNY Oswego Student Investment Fund. Students have access to a Bloomberg terminal and ProSystem fx tax preparation software for class projects. The School offers several online courses. Our online MBA program is nationally ranked by Fortune, U.S. News & World Report, and the Princeton Review. Accounting alumni have leadership roles in Big Four accounting firms, regional accounting firms, and publicly traded corporations. The School of Business has international partnerships and it sponsors an annual student research conference with Shanghai Normal University. The School of Business has hosted over 25 visiting international research scholars in recent years.
