The Department of Art & Design at the University of Indianapolis seeks applicants for a full time visiting faculty position in Visual Communication Design at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice to begin in August of 2021.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses within the B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design and B.A./B.S in Design Studies degrees. This may include, but is not limited to, teaching design fundamentals and theory, typography, design history and mid and upper level design courses.

  • Teach undergraduate courses within the B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design and B.A./B.S in Design Studies degrees


  • A terminal degree, a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree or its equivalent in Visual Communication Design/Graphic Design is required
  • Two or more years of full-time undergraduate teaching experience as it pertains to the Visual Communication Design discipline is required
  • Record of professional design activity is required
  • Strong conceptual and formal design skills including typography as shown in professional work is required
  • Teaching experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Typography, and History of Graphic Design is preferred
