Processes payroll, receives employee payroll changes, and provides routine human resources information to one or more work units in order to ensure timely and accurate payroll transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and assists with work unit operational policy development.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Associate's Degree - Preferred Minimum

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1 year experience in University Human Resources setting, UW experience preferred
Experience working in UW systems HRS and JEMS preferred
Knowledge of Human Resource policy and procedure.
Ability to maintain confidential records, documentation and communication.
Ability to work independently and meet recurring Institute, Division and Campus deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with diverse faculty, affiliates, staff, and students, and University and College administration.
Ability to remain highly organized, attend to detail, and manage a wide variety of diverse tasks.
Ability to engage in independent and creative problem solving.

Additional Information:

This position is responsible for the payroll and staff benefits program for the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP), a nonpartisan research institution dedicated to producing and disseminating rigorous evidence to inform policies and programs to combat poverty, inequality, and their effects in the United States. The position oversees payroll and HR operations for all employment types according to the rules and regulations established by UW-Madison. This position collaborates with the Assistant Director of Administration, Director, Associate Directors, and other members of the IRP administrative team to carry out the recruitment, hiring, and appointment process for all IRP personnel, and assists with other financial activities as needed.
