Job Summary

Columbus State University is inviting applications for part-time faculty pool positions in Elementary Education. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate face-to-face courses (i.e., Creative Activities, Curriculum in Elementary Education, Science in Elementary Education, and Diagnostic/Perspective Reading instruction) and supervising undergraduate candidates in the pre-service program. Elementary education classes are offered face-to-face at Columbus State University River Park Campus, Main Campus, and/or Muscogee County Partnership Schools in Columbus, Georgia, depending in need.

Application submission to the part-time faculty pool is open to qualified and competent experts who possess skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas. Applications for part-time faculty positions will be held in applicant pools, which, based on student enrollment, will be consulted when searching for candidates to fill the position on a semester-by-semester basis.

Part-time faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adults students in achieving their educational goals. Assignments include day (8:00AM-3:00PM) classes.


Follow approved syllabi and curriculum/course outline as provided by the College; t each assigned face-to-face course(s)-50%; s upervise teacher candidates in the field-50%; p resent material in an engaging and positive fashion.; m aintain a classroom environment conducive to learning; r espond to student communication and provide constructive and robust feedback in a timely manner based on rubrics provided; s upport student success; e valuate student progress; r each out to students who are struggling or are high-risk; s upplement student material when needed; r efer students to appropriate college sources for information on counseling and other student services; m aintain student records and grades; p ost grades within the prescribed deadlines and a dhere to and meet all established university and accreditation (SACSCOC) instructional policies, guidelines and standards.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in the field of study or a related discipline from an accredited institution and experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at elementary classrooms (grades P-5) and/or the higher educational level strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies.; a bility to provide instruction in a variety of formats (on ground, online, or hybrid); f amiliarity with learning management systems; e xceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others; d emonstrated student-centered orientation and ability to effectively work with persons of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, physical ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
