Athletic Communications Intern

Position Summary

The Athletic Communications Intern is a motivated self-starter, that assists the Athletic Communications Office with coverage of the school’s 18 athletic programs.

Essential Job Functions of Position

Will be the main media contact for Washburn’s men’s and women’s cross country teams, women’s soccer, men’s golf, and men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Nights and weekends are required to cover the various events.

Non-Essential Job Functions of Position

Will be the secondary contact helping with other sports during competitions and practices.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in sport management, journalism, communications, or a related field.

General sports knowledge or past experience in an athletic department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Effective writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

An understanding of StatCrew programs NCAA Live-Scoring programs experience
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
Social media
Video and photography skills

Licenses, Certifications & Registrations

Additional Requirements (e.g. Physical Demands)

The ability to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment to various venues.
