Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
Reports to: Dean of Business and Professional Studies
Location: All campuses and Remote
Date: May 2021. The position would begin July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022, with the possibility of extension.
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a full-time position that provides administrative and engagement support to the MassBay Success Project (MSP).
The MSP Manager will oversee all program activities, manage the day-to-day operations during the academic year and collaborate with others on outreach and recruitment of students. Responsibilities include managing the program, administering the budget and expenses, compiling and reporting on program data, grant reporting, writing grant applications for the successive year, and serving as a liaison to students, internal stakeholders, and external partners. The Manager will also assume primary responsibility for creating, promoting, and executing engagement programming for the program, including, but not limited to, instructional forums, guest lectures, social events, kick-off and celebration events, and field trips. The Program Manager must work well with diverse constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
The MSP Manager works both independently and collaboratively, coordinates assistance from MassBay faculty and staff for events and may supervise one or more student assistants while reporting to the Dean of Business and Professional Studies in her role as coordinator for the MassBay Success Program.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage logistical and administrative aspects of the program, including compliance with budgetary and reporting requirements as necessary;
  • Ensure all project goals and related tasks and timelines are completed efficiently;
  • Ensure that all required procedures under the grant are followed and that deadlines are met;
  • Ensure that required financial processes are followed;
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in a timely manner;
  • Lead efforts with others to develop and execute a strategic plan to recruit new and returning students to the program;
  • Serve as primary liaison to MSP students: respond to individual questions and concerns, provide routine check-ins, refer students to appropriate resources where necessary, inform students of events/activities/resources related to their educational and professional development, communicate regularly with students via e-mail, newsletters and Blackboard and where necessary, meet individually with students in person;
  • Design, promote, plan and execute MSP engagement events and forums, which involves preparing marketing materials, advertising to students and faculty, creating invitations, reserving rooms, arranging set-up and transportation, and ordering food, when appropriate;
  • Work closely with key partners in all aspects of the MSP project;
  • Create job description, post position, interview, and select MSP student assistant(s), when appropriate. Delegate projects, oversee work, and approve hours of student assistant(s);
  • Promote the program internally within the college by working with Admissions and Marketing as well as externally in the MassBay service area and surrounding community.

Inter-Office Collaboration:
  • Consult and collaborate, as appropriate, with staff from the Academic Achievement Center, IT, Grants Administration, Fiscal, Procurement, Financial Aid, Enrollment Center, Admissions, Student Engagement, and Academic and Transfer Advising, as well as faculty and Academic Deans, and assist students in navigating and utilizing appropriate resources at the college;
  • Represent the project and the college for campus, college, and community activities.

Other:
  • Requires some evening and weekend hours for programming to maximize student participation;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage grant-funded projects or complex project plans with competing priorities;
  • Retain a high energy level, and exercise strong time management and interpersonal skills;
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be willing and able to adjust weekly hours depending on program needs, including some evening and/or weekend hours;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent oral, written communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related field;
  • Project management experience;
  • Experience in higher education, community college preferred
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of affirmative action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students.

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $67,000.00 - 71,000.00 Annual Salary
