The Mail Services Supervisor provides a high level of support for the Manger of Facilities and Distribution Services and the department of Mail Services and Materials Distribution. This is a large department responsible for the distribution of all mail and packages from a variety of external delivery vendors including the US Postal Services. Responsibilities of this position include continually reviewing and recommending improvements and operational efficiencies to senior leaders. This position provides guidance and oversight to staff, establishes work priorities/workflow and resolves management or personnel issues, delegates duties, oversees work production, evaluates and provides direction to staff and informs the manager of staff needs. General oversight of departmental budgets including tracking postage inventory and billable services to university departments.


Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Supervisory related experience in Mail Services receiving and delivery.

Job Specific Qualifications

Interpret and enforce the bargaining unit contract, University’s policies and individual department policies. Technical expertise in several essential skills related to Mail Services including receiving, holding, and delivering mail. Understanding of Mail related needs and processes.


Interpret, plan and execute work within general guidelines to achieve Mail Services departmental objectives. Interface with faculty, staff, United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, Federal Express, or any contractors or vendor. Communicate with various departments regarding ongoing projects including departmental relocations.

Maintain safe and healthy work environment by enforcing compliance with OSHA regulations, Department of Labor, and SU Safety Department including the ADA .
