The English Department at Siena College is accepting applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to teach ENGL 101: Introduction to Literature and WRIT 100: Rhetoric and Writing. The position begins fall 2021.

ENGL 101: Introduction to Literature. This course offers students practice in critical thinking, reading, responding to, and analyzing a wide variety of literature. Because the course is writing-intensive, students will gain experience in writing and revising critical essays about literature. Readings will include literature from diverse classic and contemporary authors, as well as various literary genres.

WRIT 100: Rhetoric and Writing. Introducing students to basic rhetorical theories and concepts, this course is designed to help students to write effectively for the college academic community, which involves demonstrating critical reading, thinking, researching, and writing skills. The purpose of this course is to help students become familiar with the dominant conventions and expectations of academic argumentation and to assist them in writing persuasive academic prose.
