University of Lynchburg, Lynchburg, Virginia.   The School of PA Medicine invites applications for a full-time (12 month) assistant/associate professor, clinical position, beginning August 2021.  The candidate for the Clinical Medicine Faculty position must be a motivated PA with a proven record of success in the practice of medicine in Psychiatry/ Mental Health.

 

The candidate must also be an active advocate for the PA profession and interested in advancing the future of the profession. The candidate will work in a clinical setting managing patients through a joint partnership between the University of Lynchburg and a community medical practice. The candidate will also have teaching responsibility at the university within the School of PA Medicine. The candidate would work collaboratively with the Dean, PA Medicine Program Director, faculty, and staff in the School of PA Medicine. The School of PA Medicine is comprised of skilled and motivated educators, leaders, and clinicians committed to creating educational opportunities that will expand the quality care for underserved communities in the Lynchburg region. This position will follow state statutes and regulation in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer at the community medical practice.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA
  • Current certification as a PA (NCCPA)
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current D.E.A. certificate
  • Insurability (malpractice)
  • Current CPR, ACLS, PALS certification
  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are welcome to apply, must be board certified to practice medicine/nursing, licensed in Virginia, and a minimum of a master’s degree
  • Must have extensive experience in practicing medicine and be highly skilled with autonomous practice while also valuing the team and collaborative environment
  • Experience in communities with multicultural and multilingual students and healthcare providers
  • Teaching, scholarship, and service interests in diverse communities
  • Strong commitment to underserved populations and improving healthcare access

Salary, rank, and faculty status are commensurate with experience and educational credentials.  Candidates must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University, and community medical clinic, and be eligible for clinical credentialing.
