Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology invites applications for Temporary, One-Year Instructor Appointments (non-renewable) starting in academic year 2021-2022. The Department of Biology has 48 full-time faculty serving more than 1,600 majors and students from associated university programs at the Lake Shore Campus. This search is part of a University-wide, multiyear hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This is a non-tenure-track, full-time position that involves teaching in our core freshmen biology sequence, including lecture and laboratory sections. There may be opportunities to teach sophomore-level lectures and labs in Cell Biology or Genetics. Teaching responsibilities shall include a 4-4 teaching load.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and clear potential for student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
