Senior Director of Development

University of Illinois Cancer Center

The UI Cancer Center (UICC) invites applicants for the position of Senior Director of Development. The Senior Director of Development (SDD) will be responsible for the strategic development and management of engagement and fundraising priorities for the UI Cancer Center (UICC). In partnership with the UICC Senior Leadership and UI Health Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Advancement, the SDD oversees the fundraising program focused on raising six- and seven-figure commitments from individuals and organizations for key activities in the UICC. The SDD provides strategic vision and leadership, guides and leads the fundraising program and staff to increase the visibility and impact of the program across campus and community; and conveys the needs of the UICC to potential donors and recognize opportunities when the interest of donors intersects with the UICC's priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree (Master's preferred) in Communications, Business Administration, Liberal Arts or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated successful experience, ideally in higher education or healthcare, garnering at least six-figure gift from major/principal donor(s).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to be highly organized, creative, energetic and assertive, in addition to exhibiting the independent judgement and personal integrity required to carry out a senior management role in fundraising.
  • A team-oriented approach to colleagues and proven ability to manage people in a positive and constructive environment are essential.
