General summary/purpose:

The Sr. Financial Analyst will provide financial support to the Non-sponsored Finance Team in the Department of Radiology. The analyst will provide professional non-sponsored fund management and analysis for more than 90% of the time. The position will be responsible for financial transactions, performing moderately complex statistical, cost and financial analysis of financial reports and data, and prepare reports for management. The analyst will need strong oral and written communication skills. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Finance for the Department of Radiology.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in department variance reconciliation and understanding of financial performance of GAAP statement, clinical and research activity. Monitors funds flow from affiliated institutions, including joint agreement. Provides Service Center PIs and department leadership with comprehensive reporting on these businesses.
  • Helps track and reconcile Capital projects / Fixed Assets through procurement process to in-service.
  • Understands and analyzes EPSi cost accounting and standards for flex budgeting reconciliation.
  • Enter accounts receivable transactions, electronic payment requests, expense transfers and check deposits in SAP system in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation according to policies.
  • Attend finance trainings and meetings to stay updated on changes in internal and external policies and procedures as well as assisting Finance leadership with scheduling and facilitating monthly Department Finance Meetings. Provide Quality Improvement committee financial support.
  • Assist Department Finance leadership with standardization of forms and templates as well as dissemination of standardized information to Divisional and Departmental parties and assist with the automation of Departmental dashboards, Profit and Loss statements and other frequently-used templates.
  • Handles monthly cost reviews, recommends adjustments and other cost improving ideas.
  • Generates financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis that show financial forecasting, trends in the accounts, and highlight any problematic financial accounts. Handles adhoc reports as needed
  • Implement monthly and quarterly reconciliation of Department Service Center financial performance. Prepare reports for a variety of monthly and quarterly non-sponsored meetings. Utilize similar data gathering and reconciliation processes during budget season to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for future years.
  • Work with Finance Leadership to update any observed deficiencies in workflow or operational processes and maintain open lines of communication with Departmental and Divisional leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other related field. 5 years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
  • Additional education (Master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Strong communication and organizations skills needed.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
