Position Summary:
Under general supervision, this position provides program support to the Communicable Disease Division's supervisory, professional, and administrative staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: understanding and use of medical terminology, entry of patient demographic, clinical, and billing data; interpreting patient history and diagnoses and entering data into the patient database; responding to requests for medical information; maintaining medical/patient records and reports; create reports, as needed; maintaining peripheral equipment and inventory of computer and laboratory supplies; and participating in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines to improve administrative and/or operating effectiveness.

1-2 years of data entry experience, preferred
0-1 years of laboratory experience, preferred
Skill in using Epic Systems Beaker application, preferred
Additional Information:
Exposure to basic healthcare principles
Awareness of HIPAA regulations
Effective and written and oral communication skills
Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Windows applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
Ability to work independently, as well as in a group setting
Ability to adapt to low and high work volumes, maintaining productivity
Exceptional customer service skills
Skill in data entry, demonstrating high accuracy
Awareness or exposure to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)
Awareness or exposure to International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) diagnostic codes
