Position Summary:

The Security Officer 4 is responsible for serving the public by maintaining the physical security of persons and property at the University of Wisconsin. Under the supervision of a Security Supervisor or Police Sergeant, the Security Officer 4 patrols all University buildings and grounds, both on foot and bicycle and by vehicle, providing emergency assistance as needed. The officer observes and reports any situation that could cause injury or loss to the University, its faculty, staff, students, or visitors, ensures the rules and laws applicable to the campus are effectively enforced by directing compliance, issuing warnings, and reporting violations to the appropriate authorities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

High School Degree or Equivalent (GED) required. No higher education degree required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Previous security experience is preferred, but not required. All other employment experience considered.

License or Certificate:

A valid Wisconsin Driver's License is required.

Additional Information:

Applicants must have the following in order to be considered for employment at UW-Madison Police Department:
* At least 18 years of age
* High School Degree or equivalent
* No felony convictions
* No domestic violence convictions
* No misdemeanors or OWI convictions within the last 5 years (all other arrest/forfeiture violations will be reviewed)
* No illegal drug use within the last 3 years

An extensive background investigation with be conducted on all finalist(s). This background will include a drug screen, reference checks, home visit, criminal history review, medical physical and psychological examination prior to beginning employment. Persons in this position are expected to dress in required duty uniform.
