The Administrative Technician is an hourly position at the VCUCard Office that will primarily assist staff with troubleshooting, maintenance and administration of the VCUCard.
This position also serves as an office specialist that performs a wide range of office administrative duties including secretarial, clerical, customer service and support.
Applicants will need to have a desire to work with computers as well as speaking with large groups or crowds.
Job duties can include, but are not limited to:
•Assists staff with daily administrative operations, including the production and distribution of ID cards, cleaning tasks and office organization.
•Performs secretarial/clerical duties including departmental correspondence and reports using available software applications.
•Performs cashiering responsibilities using POS system.
•Uses Image Now to scan department records, forms, and daily deposits.
•Assists with special cardings and other customer service events by answering customer questions, checking-IDs, as well as maintaining line flow and crowd control.
•May provide lead support during department cardings or events such as Graduate School Orientation or VCU Health New Hire Orientation in absence of senior staff.
•Answers incoming phone calls and troubleshoots customer issues.
•Assists with shredding sensitive customer data and technology
•Troubleshoots some office equipment.
•Trains under Senior Service Technician to gain knowledge of office policies, rocedures and logistics.
•1-2 years minimum experience in a professional customer service role or demonstrated proficiency in skills required for the position.
•1-2 years minimum work experience or coursework in business and/or accounting, at a college level.
•Proficient computer skills and an apparent aptitude for learning.
•Ability to absorb information and quickly apply lessons learned to required tasks or goals.
•Demonstrated high level of organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently, under pressure, on complex assignments and prioritize tasks to help meet department deadlines.
•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
•Ability to work 9-3pm, Monday-Friday
•Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service.
•Cashiering and/or cash handling experience, especially with a POS register.
