Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Design and maintain operational data stores, data warehouse, ETL/ELT, reporting and visualization in support of the University Business Intelligence efforts. Develop integrations using API tools. Supports data quality efforts and assurance testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop ETL/ELT processes in support of business intelligence reporting
    • Develop pipelines to transport, normalize, aggregate, organize and process data among administrative and reporting systems
    • Identify sources of analytic data within administrative systems
    • Design and test data models and integrations
    • Optimizes ETL/ELT processes
  • Maintenance and administration of the MS SQL Server data repositories and business intelligence infrastructure
  • Ensure quality and integrity of data being imported into the data repositories and support quality assurance efforts
  • Develop integrations for on premise and cloud applications using API tools
  • Adheres to data security and change management best practices


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates within IT to identify data issues and makes recommendations to improve data quality, models, and system architecture / performance
  • Documents system procedures, guidelines and program modifications
  • Assists with the creation of data dictionaries, schema documentation and efforts in support of self-service reporting
  • Assists with the development and delivery of ad hoc reports, BI analysis and dashboards
  • Assists with testing of reports and dashboards
  • Identify reporting and BI requirements of University stakeholders
  • Participates in all efforts of the Office of Information Technologies to deliver effective technology solutions to the University community
  • Perform such other related duties that may be assigned

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field
  • A minimum of three years' experience in data analysis, development or related work
  • Expertise in MS SQL Server development, SSIS, SQL query, data manipulation and Enterprise Integration platforms
  • Expertise with ETL / ELT tools
  • Demonstratable knowledge of database design methodologies
  • Experience with data analysis and related reporting and visualization tools such as SAP Business Objects, Tableau, Power BI
  • Demonstratable knowledge of .Net, Javascript, Python, R, Ruby or other programming language
  • Experience with Wherescape Red, Wherescape 3D, Power BI, Ellucian Colleague and or similar system in a higher education environment a plus
