  Department Summary
  The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at the University of Oregon provides a rigorous, accredited two-year curriculum combining academic theory, analytic skills, and real-world applications so that students become effective and creative leaders in public service. A central focus of the program is to prepare students to become evidence-based policy makers, analysts, and managers. The School of PPPM also offers accredited Master of Nonprofit Management and Master of Community and Regional Planning degrees, graduate certificates in nonprofit management and arts management, an undergraduate minor in nonprofit management, and an undergraduate major and minor in PPPM. The department is home to 18 tenure-track faculty, 40 non-tenure track faculty, 130 graduate students, and 120 undergraduate students.
  
  The School of PPPM engages in efforts related to diversity, equity and inclusion on an ongoing basis, offers a supportive and collaborative teaching and research environment, and actively encourages applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds.

  Position Summary
  The School of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon invites applications for a visiting professor (open rank - assistant or associate professor) to teach in the undergraduate and the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs during the 2021-22 academic year. Candidates with research and teaching interests in any applied public policy/public administration area will be considered.
  
  The University of Oregon academic year consists of three 11-week terms (Sept 16-June 15). The visiting professor will teach six courses across three terms, including:
  
• Undergraduate courses PPPM 415-Planning and Policy Analysis (fall and winter terms)
  
• MPA core curriculum courses PPPM 628-Public Sector Economics (fall term) and PPPM 636-Public Policy Analysis (winter term)
  
  Other courses may include:
  
• PPPM 201-Intro to Public Policy
  
• PPPM 484 and 684 Public & Nonprofit Financial Management
  
• Elective course in their area of interest (spring term) targeted at undergraduate and/or graduate students
  
  The successful candidate will also be asked to serve as an academic advisor to some MPA students.

  Minimum Requirements
  Assistant Professor rank:
  
• Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, economics, or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered)
  
  Associate Professor rank:
  
• Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, economics, or a closely related field
  
• Six years of teaching experience post terminal degree OR
  
• Same rank held at another university
  
  
• Visiting faculty members are generally in residence and are expected to participate in the full range of faculty activities
  
• Visiting faculty must hold a like or relevant position at another institution or have recently obtained a terminal degree
  
  Professional Competencies
  
• Ability to help create an educational environment supportive of staff, students, and faculty inclusive of race, culture, (dis)ability, gender, sexuality, religion, or other aspects of human diversity
  
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and facilitate student learning
  
• Ability to conduct independent, high-quality scholarship or creative practice
  
  Preferred Qualifications
  
• Prior college or university-level teaching experience
