RESPONSIBILITIES: Our college is seeking a Director of Financial Aid. The Director will be responsible in the management of the department. The Director must possess a working knowledge of regulations and policies governing federal, state, and institutional aid programs and process excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. In addition, the Director must enjoy extensive interaction with students and parents as the position is engaged in extensive direct communication with applicants. The incumbent in this position must be have extensive experience with PeopleSoft Processing, Canvas, Customer Service systems, and Perceptive Concepts Imaging System. This position is responsible for the review of applications, determination of awards, maintaining compliance with aid regulations, and communication with families about financial aid availability. This position reports to the Associate VP of Financial Services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s degree is required. Several years of relevant work, experience in financial aid is strongly required. Experience working in financial aid in an academic setting is required. Working knowledge of regulations and policies governing federal, state, and institutional aid programs is required. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service and organizational skills. Must demonstrate initiative and be student success focused. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Collaboratively develop and implement innovative strategies and programs. Experience with technology is required.
Prior experience and training in PeopleSoft
Prior Knowledge of Federal and State financial aid regulations
Excellent communication skills (verbal and writing)
Proficiency in Microsoft Software Products
The ability to work independently and resolve technical problems
Review Special Circumstances/Dependency Overrides and process SAP appeals.
Maintain and update Office Policies and Procedures Manual.
Counsel students, award, disburse, and verify student records especially during peak periods.
Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
Preferred: Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
