General
summary/purpose:
Sr. Technical Advisor, Immunization needed to
provide technical and program expertise to diversify and deepen
Jhpiego’s portfolio of Global Immunization Programs, including
creating a strategic value proposition for the organization in the
space of Immunization and to provide technical leadership and
manage Jhpiego’s programs related to Immunization services. This
includes ensuring the technical and programmatic integrity of all
immunization programs and in collaboration with partner agencies,
country and HQ based teams, lead and support the design and
implementation of policies, strategies, programs and operational
service delivery strategies for improving the equitable access and
utilization of existing and new
vaccines.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise
in the design and delivery of Jhpiego’s portfolio of programs
related to Immunization
services
Support the development and
iteration of organizational strategy for expanding equitable access
to vaccination,strengthening surveillance
systems, and establish linkages to other
interventions
Work with technical and
program staff to create a strategic value proposition for the
organization in the space of
Immunization
Establish, manage and foster
high-level relationships with global, regional and in-country
partners and stakeholders, including IVAC, WHO,
Gavi
Utilize strong portfolio and
program management skills to manage the global projects related to
Immunization
Keep abreast of latest
technical updates and opportunities in the space of Immunization
and make recommendations to the Senior Director and Jhpiego’s
Leadership team regarding strategic priorities for Jhpiego in the
space of
Immunization.
Foster catalytic networks
and engage non-traditional stakeholders to identify, develop, and
propose solutions for immunization challenges and build evidence
for vaccine
delivery
Identify opportunities for
and support growth of impactful partnerships that leverage the
combined skills, assets, technologies, and resources of the public,
private, and nonprofit
sectors
Ensure and enhance adherence
to guiding principles and philosophy of Jhpiego immunization
portfolio, which include commitment to achieving impact through
affordability, accessibility, and scalability of evidence-based
strategies in limited resource
settings
Design and provide TA for
development of strategies for strengthening of health systems,
including human resources for health and data systems towards
sustainable delivery of immunization services in low and middle
income
countries
Advance the learning agenda
as it relates to the Immunization
portfolio
Work closely with New
Programs Development and Global External Communications Office to
identify opportunities for new immunization
business
Represent Jhpiego at
priority conferences, meetings, and on working groups at global and
regional
level
Keep abreast of emerging
research, best practices in immunization
portfolio
Work with the senior
director and across ITLO on development of implementation
strategies on promising emerging immunization
strategies
Minimum qualifications
(mandatory):
Clinical degree plus
advanced degree in Public Health or related
field
Strong expertise in the
field of immunization programs, including experience in the
introduction of new vaccines at global
level
12+ years' progressively
senior global work experience in planning, developing and
implementing programs related to immunization
services
Track record of utilizing
performance data for problem
solving
Demonstrated competence in
epidemiology and technical aspects of Vaccines, Biologicals and
Immunization
programs
Strong understanding of
global immunization scenario and effective strategies for delivery
of immunization services, including introduction of new
vaccines
Strong understanding of
health systems in low and middle-income countries and strategies
for strengthening of health systems towards sustainable delivery of
immunization
services
Demonstrated success working
with key stakeholders in both the public and private
sectors
Understanding of country
contexts and health systems as they relate to Immunization services
through implementation of programs related to immunization and
global
health.
Experience with
implementation research
preferred
Experience of working in
senior management capacity with substantial human resources
management and decision-making responsibilities for both the
technical and managerial elements of the work being
managed
Proven leadership and
management skills and proven record of working effectively with and
leading diverse teams of
professionals
Proven ability to work in a
complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and
intense pressure to perform across a portfolio of

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of
employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees
who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or
clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or
possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet
this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas,
laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving
community contact requires documentation of immune status against
Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella
(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the
Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include
documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella
vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory
testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are
ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for
those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization
documentation from their own health care providers. Any
vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost
in our Occupational Health office.
