General Description of Position

Teaches library instruction and information literacy skills for courses in assigned disciplines (English and Linguistics, Communications and Digital Studies, Modern Languages and Literature, Theatre and Dance)
Prepares online instructional materials, guides, and tutorials for these disciplines.
Provides instruction to students in classes, at the reference desk, by email and chat, and through individual consultations.
Works with faculty and campus partners to strengthen instructional collaborations across the University and integrate the Library’s resources into classes and programs.
Schedule includes some evening and weekend shifts during the academic term.

Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform their work

Ability to teach library research techniques.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of standards for information literacy and digital fluency.
Solid knowledge of MS Office products, Knowledge of and experience with a wide array of traditional and electronic information resources, especially library related databases,

Preferred KSA's / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform the work

Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Required Education

Master’s Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s program (MLS/MLIS)

Required Experience

Experience in the provision of reference, research and instruction services. (This can include experience gained while pursuing a graduate degree or in a pre-professional position.)
Experience creating and maintaining Web pages in support of library services.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in an academic library; Experience teaching, designing, and assessing library instruction classes.
Experience in marketing library services to students and faculty.
Experience working with the tools of digital scholarship.
