Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Marketing Specialist oversees the department work-study students and interns who serve as the brand ambassadors, as well as cultivate key relationships with members of the media and established college partners to share positive stories and/or news about the college. This position is responsible for ensuring the college's website, social media presence, and digital marketing campaigns are visually compelling, engaging, and effective with target audiences. The ideal candidate has proven experience in a wide range of digital communications areas including writing for the web, search engine optimization (SEO), Google Analytics, digital marketing strategy, social media and content marketing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with the daily operations in the Digital Marketing Intelligence Center, and organize presentations and updating content of the website
  • Assists in the development of an integrated marketing strategy
  • Researches and applies new trends to enhance the user experience and increase engagement on social media and the mobile app
  • Works closely with faculty, staff and students on a daily basis to write and distribute stories about academic/student success and information, approaching deadlines, events, and news on the college's website, social media platforms, newsletters and marketing collateral
  • Works closely with the AIR analysts to create data sets and dashboards for targeted marketing campaigns and to measure results, the return on investment
  • Supervises department work-study students and interns serving as brand ambassadors, and charged with writing stories, engaging students on social media platforms, and carrying out various social media contests on campus
  • Creates digital graphics such as banners, custom images, icons, ads, and photos for daily social media content, the college website, and campaigns
  • Monitors the college's online reputation and conversations across social media platforms and consult with the Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing Communications as needed to respond in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Attend school events, take photos, and post timely content on social media and the website
  • Cultivate relationships with key community partners such as the media established partners of the college to share college news and success stories
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned


  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of Web and marketing analytics tools, including but not limited to Google Analytics and Adwords
    • Experience with website usability, responsible (mobile), email engagement, and social media strategy
    • Strong writing, editing, project management, and communication skills
    • Experience creating email campaigns and e-newsletters
    • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills


    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a clim ate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with PC platform in programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and experience with social media


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate's degree
    • Photoshop and Adobe software programs
    • Experience in a public relations and marketing communications environment


    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $34,670 to $39,870 annually.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
