Gastroenterologist / Assistant Professor – WVU Eastern Division

West Virginia University is seeking Assistant Professor(s) in Gastroenterology (Internal Medicine). Positions are primarily clinical; hours vary and include call. Positions will be based in Berkeley and Jefferson counties.
Job duties include: clinical time in outpatient clinic; teaching medical students and residents; hospital and call coverage are required; and scholarly activities are highly encouraged. Qualifications: Must have MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and successfully completed an accredited Internal Medicine residency program and a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Must have WV Medical License and DEA certificate. Candidates should be BC or BE in Gastroenterology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Berkeley Medical Center is a 195-bed licensed facility, with 55,000 ED visits annually. The ICU was recently expanded and updates and now has 20 beds. BMC has new NICU and more than 1,000 births annually. BMC has wound care center with two hyperbaric chambers.
Jefferson Medical Center (JMC) is a full service Critical Access Hospital with 25 acute care beds. It has EPIC system-wide EMR, with a 19-bed, 24-hour emergency department (30,000 ED visits annually). Services include digital radiology (PACS), SPECT, 64 slice CT, a Special Care unit, and obstetrics unit with approximately 300 births per year. JMC is also the primary hospital for WVU’s rural Family Medicine residency and fellowship programs in hospitalist medicine, geriatrics, and maternal-child medicine.
Our Eastern Panhandle location is little more than an hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with the easy accessibility to the Washington DC / Baltimore areas make the Eastern Panhandle an ideal place in which to live. While Berkeley County is among the fastest growing counties in the state, there is little congestion and traffic. In recent years, a steady influx of urban professionals from nearby Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland - have contributed to the growth of local telecommuting and high-tech industries.
