Position Summary:

This is an opportunity to join an established lab that collaborates extensively with other virology labs on campus and beyond to study the role of viruses, particularly Epstein-Barr virus in cancer. The primary responsibility will be to learn to construct and validate mutant viruses that are suitable for use in cell culture, in vitro, and animal models. While the lab has established protocols for these procedures, the successful individual will be interested in innovation and be an excellent problem solver.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS/BA in Biological Sciences or relevant field required with a degree or focus in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry. Master's degree holders in same fields also accepted.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year prior experience working in a molecular biology laboratory required. Professional or post-undergraduate experience preferred. Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, basic recombinant DNA techniques, restriction digests, PCR, constructing plasmid maps, interpreting Sanger sequencing, and competence in working at BL2+ laboratory conditions strongly preferred.
