Purpose of Position

To provide administrative support for the Department of Psychological Science including the Department Chair, Academic Coordinator, Faculty/Staff (40+ faculty members), and NKU students (500+ psychology majors).

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:
-Manage the daily operations of the office
-Answer the phone and respond to department e-mails
-Assist students and faculty with inquiries
-Sort and distribute mail
-Assist and maintain the calendar for the Department Chair
-Oversight of confidential records and correspondence for Department Chair, Academic Coordinator, and Faculty; archive records
-Process copy requests for syllabi, exams, and class materials
-Maintaining office equipment, completing work orders or IT requests, and order office supplies
-Facilitate and assist faculty with grants in maintenance and purchasing
-Travel arrangements
-Meeting and event coordination; scheduling of department classrooms
-Process student permit requests; assign advisors for students
-Coordinate textbook orders
-Update the department website
-Serve as liaison and collaborate well with students, alumni, other departments, and external partners
-Outreach (mail and phone) to potential new students and newly admitted students
-Coordinate annual inventory process; manage room key distribution and requests
-Assist the departmental Academic Coordinator, Assistant Chair, and Graduate Program Director with work overflow

Qualifications

High school diploma two years of related experience required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and mature judgment. Must be able to multi-task and work well with others. Must have a working knowledge of standard office software packages (e.g., Microsoft office). Knowledge of SAP is desired.
