Assess performance in standard mouse models of learning and memory (e.g., Morris water maze, object location/recognition, conditioned freezing, etc.) following repeated administration of assorted cancer chemotherapy drugs.
Evaluate test compounds in learning and memory assays, as well as the tetrad assay, which consists of the tail withdrawal test of nociception, bar test measure of catalepsy, rectal temperature, and locomotor activity.
Evaluate test compounds in ameliorating withdrawal responses in opioid-dependent or cannabinoid-dependent mice.
Maintain notebook (include protocol, raw data, statistical analyses, and graphs). Maintain electronic versions of all analyses and graphs. Make drug solutions and dilutions accurately and maintain records in notebook.
Assist other personnel and trainees in behavioral pharmacology procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
Experience in mouse handling skills to give intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections, as well as ability to learn other routes of administration (e.g, gavage).
Basic scientific knowledge to dissolve drugs in solution and conduct dilutions.
Ability to work independently to test mice in behavioral models of chemotherapy-induced memory impairment and cannabinoid dependence.
Ability to use prism for statistical analyses of data and graphing data.
