Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Veteran Resource Center, this position is responsible for assisting qualified and eligible military personnel in utilizing their military tuition assistance benefits. Serving as the primary point of contact between the university and the eligible person and their respective branch of the military, this position will perform data entry, verify information, and coordinate request for review of military tuition assistance and eligibility by performing the following duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Advise and assist CBU Online and Professional Studies ( OPS ) active military duty students who are utilizing Military Tuition Assistance (TA) in planning a program of study designed to achieve their academic goals and provide general career and placement information.
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Department of Defense ( DOD ) Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ).
3. Compile TA student agreements of all previous formal and non-traditional learning completed through testing, service schools, military experience and/or other colleges and universities.
4. Ensure the preparation of TA degree maps, educational plans and reports, in accordance with Department of Defense policies and procedures.
5. Assist students with TA program and match students to the appropriate admissions advisor.
6. Triage student requests (phone calls, emails, walk-ins) in order to effectively assist students with appropriate course of action, referrals, and resources.
7. Provide resources for students as they explore educational and career options.
8. Ensure the planning and coordination of educational plans.
9. Engage military installations, in collaboration with OPS admission staff, in activities including, but not limited to, educational fairs and college nights and by providing information on approved OPS education programs.
10. Serve as an alternate School Certifying Official ( SCO ).
11. After each completed student course, submit all required documentation and billing to the appropriate military branch through the designated portal to secure payment back to the University.
12. Interpret institutional, departmental, military and other agency procedures and policies.
13. Assist in developing, establishing and implementing CBU and TA procedures.
14. Coordinate and facilitate procedure implementation with OPS staff and external agencies.
15. Conduct program research, analyze data and prepare reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

 Knowledge of Higher Education or work experience in the veteran service field.
 Skill and experience in a customer service environment including the ability to respond efficiently and effectively to customer requests and to use sensitivity and discretion when dealing with customers.
 Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
 Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
 A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices.
 Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
 Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
 Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
 Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
 Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
 Ability to maintain confidentiality.
 Excellent telephone courtesy knowledge and experience.
 Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
 Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
 Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
