Department Summary

The Office of Student Engagement serves as an important space for students to get involved, engaged, and develop leadership at CSUSB. OSE works with student clubs & organizations, fraternities & sororities, leadership development programming, oversees the National Student Exchange program, and implements broader campus activities that encourage individual student involvement at CSUSB. The mission of OSE is to provide, create, and support an inclusive student experience through social and co-curricular opportunities that foster student involvement and build affinity to CSUSB.


Job Summary

The Office of Student Engagement serves as an important space for students to get involved, engaged, and develop leadership at CSUSB. OSE works with student clubs & organizations, fraternities & sororities, leadership development programming, oversees the National Student Exchange program, and implements broader campus activities that encourage individual student involvement at CSUSB. The mission of OSE is to provide, create, and support an inclusive student experience through social and co-curricular opportunities that foster student involvement and build affinity to CSUSB.

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Senior Student Engagement Coordinator - Fraternity and Sorority Life is responsible for advising, developing programs and initiatives that serve the fraternity and sorority community at CSUSB. The incumbent will collaborate with inter/national headquarters, campus departments, alumni, and advisors to provide leadership and vision in supporting the self-governance and values-based leadership of the fraternity and sorority community, councils, chapters, and members. The Senior Student Engagement Coordinator - Fraternity and Sorority Life is responsible for leadership development, risk management, and other mandated/necessary trainings for the fraternity and sorority community.

Employment Status: Full-time, probationary, “exempt” position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

  • Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling problems of a sensitive nature and security of confidential records.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment and technology including, but not limited to, desktop computer, laptop, copier, fax machine, scanner, and printer.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ability to effectively use common computer and technology programs and related computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, etc.) in the course of assigned duties.



  • Education and Experience
  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper-division or graduate course work in counseling work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
  • Experience: Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. (A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with major responsibility for a professional career or personal counseling.)



  • Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable state and federal civil rights, education, or employee/labor relations laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in event planning including determining the event's purpose.
  • Experience in advising fraternities and sororities; more specifically Greek letter organizations under the Interfraternity (IFC), Multi-cultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC), and Panhellenic Council (PHC).
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Experience in higher education.



  • Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,000.00 - $5,300.00 monthly

    Classification Salary Range: $4,691.00 - $6,683.00 monthly
