POSITION SUMMARY:

The Division of Art + Design at Indiana Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Photography. The Division of Art + Design consists of 8 full-time faculty and serves over 150 undergraduate students. Degrees offered include 7 BAs in art and design, as well as a BFA in Visual Communication Design. 

The successful candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort with the Wesleyan- Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Pending funding, start date will be Fall 2021.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have an MFA in Photography or a related terminal degree.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include teaching, program coordination, academic advising, supervision and upkeep of the Mac Labs, darkrooms, and portrait studios, and institutional service.

Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong record of teaching, scholarship, service, and dedication to the ideals of liberal learning, and an educational philosophy based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and the integration of faith and learning.
  • Applicants must have the ability to teach all levels of undergraduate photography
  • courses, including film and darkroom skills, digital-based capture and output, medium and large-format camera technique, studio lighting, documentary and concept-based photography, alternative non-silver processes, and history and theory of photography.
  • The ability to teach additional courses in visual communication design, user experience, or digital design is strongly desired.
