General Summary/Purpose

Serve as Pediatric Telemedicine Program Specialist reporting to the Associate Administrator – Clinical, SOM Pediatrics with a dotted line to the Department of Pediatrics Associate Administrator. This position would manage the responsibilities outlined below in support of the Pediatric Telemedicine Program with a focus on the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) relationship.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as the navigator for the entire AHN teleconsultation program and serves as the front-line point person for clinical and administrative staff related to this project.
  • Works closely with the Department of Pediatrics Administrator, Divisional Administrators, and AHN stakeholders to ensure task completion across participating divisions.
  • Manages and project timeline and organizational chart.
  • Along with AHN staff, supports providers and teams in ongoing licensure, credentialing, and other required elements of program compliance.
  • Support logistics and scheduling of teleconsultations and video family meetings.
  • Support logistics of obtaining needed consents when applicable.
  • Has completed Epic training and has Epic access. Supports providers and staff in relevant Epic clinical workflows.
  • Provides frontline technical trouble shooting for video platforms.
  • Provides training for providers and staff on telemedicine workflows when needed.
  • Oversees and develops ongoing reports and updates on project management to assure contract agreements are met in a timely fashion.
  • Along with Administrative Staff, tracks budgetary expenses for program.
  • Analyze operational, quality, safety, and experience data to assess impact of program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in business, healthcare administration, finance, accounting, or other related field.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible professional-level Program Coordinator and/or program management experience that includes both budget management, coordination of faculty and staff, superb interpersonal, problem solving, and communications skills.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Five years of management experience in financial management and operations for academic health care institutions preferred.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Work requires a comprehensive understanding of all procedures and systems employed in assigned areas to plan, develop, implement, and control effective programs.
  • Management skills to collaborate with others, develop and implement department workflow processes, policies and procedures and develop and administer the programs and budgets.
  • Analytical and decision making skills to resolve complex technical and/or administrative problems; analyze budget for variance and make recommendations for additional expenditures; analyze current operating procedures; recommend enhancements or new methods; and develop new reports and/or systems to enhance department's effectiveness in the oversight and management of the program.
  • Advanced computer skills and financial applications software.
  • Uses specific body of knowledge and performs critical thinking to evaluate multiple sources of information to effectively manage financial and operational viability for the program.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, ability to clearly relay information to faculty, staff and students.
  • Ability to independently interpret policies and procedures, and possess, strong organizational skills, analytical and problem solving abilities, and attention to detail. Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to oversee, prioritize and direct the work efforts of other staff members within the department.
  • Proven ability to assess priorities, respond quickly to changing needs, and
  • balance competing responsibilities.
  • Must have the ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively interact with all levels of University and Hospital employees as well as outside contacts.
  • Ability to travel in various modes of transportation to participate in meetings and site visits for Allegheny Health System and Highmark as needed for program planning, implementation and coordination.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
