Position Summary 

Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Head Women’s Softball Coach will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics and be responsible for administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes. Must be available nights and weekend hours. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution  
  • Successful experience in coaching women's softball as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at the collegiate level 
  • A thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with the rules, regulations and policies of NCAA and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution 
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities 
  • Experience in NCAA Division II 
  • Experience in fundraising. 

Major Responsibilities 

The head women’s softball coach at Fort Lewis College, a NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for leading all aspects of an athletically competitive women's softball program, including, but not limited to: 

  • Organizing and conducting all skill instruction, practice, scheduling of games, competition and training schedules 
  • Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches and the broader campus community 
  • Strategize and supervise all aspects of recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes 
  • Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments 
  • Conduct sound fiscal management of program, administer athletic scholarships to student-athletes and participate in fundraising activities supporting the program 
  • Ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement and competitive achievement 
  • Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of student-athletes; establish positive relationships with support staff 
  • Schedule and organize softball camps and clinics 
  • Manage and supervise assistant coach 
  • Participate in designated conference and NCAA meetings, and represent the softball program at specific college, department, alumni, media and community events. 
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508. 
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation  

Salary range is  $47,000 to $51,000,  plus a comprehensive benefits package.
