We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join our research group led by Dr. Rajabrata Sarkar at the Center for Vascular and Inflammatory Diseases, University of Maryland School of Medicine. Currently our laboratory is focused on elucidating the differential regulation of cell migration and proliferation in endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells mediated by the gene MARCKS. Differential regulation of these two cell types has significant implications for the treatment of vascular diseases. The project involves working both in vitro and in vivo and techniques such as cell culture, qPCR, cloning of genes in various plasmids and in vivo FRET. Selected candidate is also expected to work with tissue specific knockout mice for our gene of interest.
Qualifications :
We are seeking independent, self-motivated, and enthusiastic candidates with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates must possess good oral and written communication skills with demonstrated expertise in cellular and molecular biology. Candidates will be expected to participate in in vivo experiments and prior experience is preferred.
Interested candidates should send a CV and contact information for three references by email to Subhradip Mukhopadhyay (smukhopadhyay@som.umaryland.edu). Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
