Under the direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Division Dean manages/administers the day-to-day operations of all instructional programs and courses offered by the division. This includes planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating activities of the division and division staff. The Division Dean supervises contract and adjunct instructors and support staff needed to meet class schedules. The Division Dean also serves as the communication link between staff and campus administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administer Staffing and Staff Functions The Division Dean will
recommend for appointment, organize, supervise and evaluate
division staff in cooperation with the Vice President for
Instruction. The Division Dean will travel to the representative
campuses and locations to perform the essential functions of the
instructional division. Campus Locations The Division Dean will
work with the administration and staff of the three campuses to
ensure the effective operation of the division. Manage Division
Budget The Division Dean will develop, justify, monitor, and manage
an annual budget for the divisions and a Dean cost center budget.
Organize and Coordinate Class Offerings Coordinate course
scheduling, instructional schedules, facility utilization, and
assist with student registration, book ordering and student record
keeping within the division and between divisions. Participate on
Area Instructional Team Serve as division representative on the
Area Instructional Team, Ad Hoc Committees/Teams, and assist in the
review formulation and revision of college operating procedures.
Remain Current in Events and Developments Related to This Position
Increase and improve personal administrative and supervisory skills
as well as knowledge relative to community colleges, division
program(s) course curriculum and post-secondary education
developments in general through supplemental sources such as
in-service activities, conferences, workshops, technical updates
and personal self-study. Ensure Compliance with Administrative
Directives The Division Dean will review, monitor and administer
division operations to ensure these are consistent with the
policies, regulations and operating procedures of the college and
campuses. Inform and interpret to staff any changes in these
directives. Program Planning and Improvement Develop, justify and
implement plans for the maintenance and growth of the division
which are consistent with campus/college goals and objectives. This
includes continuous program evaluation and refinement and an
on-going search for ways to improve the quality of instruction.
Participate in the long range planning process, the student
learning assessment process and the monitoring of those plans for
the ongoing review and changes in a particular division or program
area. Cooperation/Coordination/Collaboration Develop and maintain
cooperative working relationships with other divisions, education
institutions, business/industries and the communities we serve.
Attend program and college meetings and serve on assigned teams.
Other Duties as Assigned Perform related work as required to ensure
the effective operation of the division. Promote/Support Diversity

Promote/Support the Organizational Environment through Goal 9 of
the Strategic Plan: Promote and support the College’s

environment by encouraging input, reflective and transparent
communication, and compassion and respect toward the views and
ideas of others.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Baccalaureate degree in Education, Business Administration,
or a baccalaureate degree related to one of the program areas
listed below.
2. The candidate must have two (2) years of experience in one of
the areas of our programs listed below.
3. The candidate will have two (2) years of teaching or training
experience.
3. The candidate will have two (2) years of supervisory
experience.
