Job Description

Missouri Western State University invites applications for an experienced professor to join the Craig School of Business as a Department Chairperson/Faculty member. This Tenure Track position will teach Marketing or Management courses in the Craig School of Business beginning August 2021, as well as serve as Department Chairperson.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
The Department Chairperson will teach 6 credit hours (per Fall and Spring Semester), and be actively involved in advising and supervision of student applied learning.

Professors are responsible to educate students, engage in original research and creative activities that are published or presented in peer-reviewed settings.

• Teaching: teach undergraduate and graduate students in a specific field of expertise; participation in programs that promote instructional development in the discipline; develop and manage curricular materials, ensuring that they meet departmental and university standards; participation in campus initiatives related to teaching such as learning communities, honors programs, and applied learning.

• Scholarship: engage in scholarly and creative activities leading to peer-reviewed artifacts, performances, and/or exhibitions including basic research or creative expression, reviews and/or integrates prior research, applies current knowledge and innovations to important practices, and focuses on the nature and improvement of teaching.

• Service: document students’ attendance, participation, and academic progress by giving and grading assignments, projects, quizzes and/or examinations that lead to a final grade; plan and create lectures, in-class activities, and assignments; maintain currency in one’s area of expertise and discipline; provide academic advising and support related to the academic progress of students; is accessible to students outside the classroom, providing ample periods of time for counseling and mentoring students in matters related to academic success; engage in service activities in support of departmental, college, and university needs; service supporting community outreach; and service to relevant professional organizations; participate in student recruitment efforts as assigned.

The Department Chairperson is a leadership role strategically connected to both faculty and administration. A department chairperson sets the tone for the department and helps determine the future vision of the unit in light of institutional priorities. At the same time, the department chairperson is expected to effectively manage the routine operations of the department and ensure that issues are appropriately addressed.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a Doctorate in Management, Marketing, or closely related discipline.

Candidates must have an established record of effective teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with the rank of associate or full professor.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability or have a record of effective experience in curriculum management, program review and assessment, student and faculty administration, and fiscal management.

Candidates must have excellent teaching skills with an ability to coordinate with the faculties and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, ability to engage large groups of people with complicated material, demonstrate confidence teaching and presenting in a public forum, and passionate about specific academic fields and education in general.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching online or with CAPSIM simulations preferred.
