The Director of Student Support Services and Intervention addresses the needs of students who struggle with mental health and behavioral issues, anger management and relationship conflicts, personality and social adjustment matters, physical health and nutrition, substance abuse, and other life challenges. The Director is part of the Student Affairs team and collaborates with internal and external resources to offer individualized student support. The Director also supervises the Coordinator of Case Management, the Coordinator of Sexual and Interpersonal Violence Prevention, and a Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs.

Salary Grade Essential Functions

1. Provide case management oversight for all students referred to the Care Team, including coordinating and tracking action plans and continuity of care as needed.
2. Supervise the Coordinator of Case Management, the Coordinator of Sexual and Interpersonal Violence Prevention, and a Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs.
3. Lead the institution’s Care Team, which addresses mental health, behavioral, and social adjustment issues of students.
4. Assist referred students in making use of University and/or community services and resources.
5. Manage and provide eligible students access to the Bluejay Nest Fund (for basic needs/unexpected hardship) and emergency micro-loans.
6. Oversee the University’s leave of absence process and support the withdrawal process for undergraduate students.
7. Serve as the Project Director for the University’s Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women grant.
8. Maintain the Care Team database and document interactions with students via Maxient.
9. Communicate with parents, families, and/or designated emergency contacts as appropriate regarding significant mental health emergencies, including suicide attempts, hospitalizations, etc.
10. Facilitate transitions from campus services to external community providers (i.e., psychiatric/psychological treatments services, housing, food, etc.) and from external providers to appropriate University services (i.e., upon return to campus from hospitalization).
11. Sustain strong collaborative relationships with campus partners in the Office of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Access and Disability Services, Wellness Center, Athletics, Housing and Residence Life, Public Safety, Student Financial Services, and other areas to provide a comprehensive network of support for students in need.
12. Provide training and resources to faculty and staff regarding college student mental health and basic needs support.
13. Develop and maintain a directory of community resources available to students.
14. Represent the Office of Student Affairs on various campus and community committees and initiatives.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work in conjunction with the appropriate University entities to comply with the Clery Act, FERPA, Title IX, the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, and the Higher Education Act.
2. Serve as a designated Campus Security Authority ( CSA ), as defined by the Clery Act, and ensure the appropriate, timely, and accurate reporting of any crimes on campus, and serve as a Mandated Reporter under Title IX regulations.
3. Maintain professional conduct and ethical behavior at all times.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline.
2. Three to five years full-time experience in higher education case management.
3. Knowledge of behavioral intervention team policies and procedures preferred.
4. Ability to multitask and manage a diverse caseload.
5. Demonstrated experience with and sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community.
6. Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple deadlines.
7. Ability to function within a team environment and collaborate with others.
8. Excellent verbal, written, and technological communication skills.
9. Willingness to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends on a limited basis).
10. Ability to interpret federal and state nondiscrimination laws, including Title IX, VAWA, Clery, FERPA, and any other applicable laws.
11. Outstanding customer service skills.
12. Exercise superior judgement managing highly sensitive and confidential communications.
13. Knowledge of student development theory and an understanding of current trends in case management and sexual and interpersonal violence prevention.

Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
