The Occupational Therapy Program at Elmhurst University is seeking a full-time, twelve-month clinical track assistant professor to join our program as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator ( AFWC ) beginning August 2021.

Essential Functions

The AFWC will contribute to all aspects of the fieldwork placements for our occupational therapy students and have limited teaching duties. The AFWC will be responsible for developing and refining the clinical education component of the Master of Occupational therapy curriculum and is responsible for the school’s compliance with the fieldwork requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education ( ACOTE ). The AFWC’s primary responsibilities are to identify and establish academic fieldwork placement sites, and plan, administer, and monitor academic fieldwork activities and in coordination with clinical partners (contracted clinical facilities, clinical educators). The occupational therapy program is located in a newer building on campus that includes newly renovated laboratory and clinical teaching spaces. In addition, the program is building strategic relationships with the College’s department of Nursing, including access to the 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art Elmhurst University Simulation Center located at nearby, newly constructed Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. In 2020, three of Elmhurst University’s graduate programs in health care ranked among the best in Illinois and the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best Graduate Schools list. The University’s programs in nursing, occupational therapy, and communication sciences and disorders were recognized, and all three graduate programs also ranked in the top eight in Illinois.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution; 5 years’ experience in occupational therapy practice; eligibility for an OT license in Illinois; experience teaching or mentoring students in a professional academic program or as a clinical fieldwork educator; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; commitment to clinical education.

Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object. Some local travel required.
