Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
VCU has an exciting opportunity for an Admissions Processor!
The duties include, but are not limited to:
-Provide exemplary customer service to admissions constituents. (i.e., prospective students, VCU faculty and staff)
-Process and verify admissions application data is loaded in the student information system from the applicant.
-Respond to inquiries and questions from admissions applicants to ensure applicants submit required admission documentation.
-Process documents from admissions applicants including, but not limited to: high school and college transcripts, in-state tuition forms, reference letters, certificates of admission, permanent resident cards, response forms, and test scores.
-Verify accuracy of data in student information systems for admissions applicants by working edit reports and updating the student information system with correct information.
-Enter admission decisions and process change of major requests received from applicant.
-Correspond via email with applicants regarding their admission decisions.
-Suggest and find solutions to issues with customer applications.
-Quickly deliver documents in order to support the university’s strategic enrollment management goals via various software platforms, i.e. Technolutions Slate, Liaison CAS, Perceptive Content.
-Effectively and professionally communicate with departments about action sheets and generate admission decision letters with excellent customer service, timeliness, and accuracy.
-Promote a culture of excellence, efficiency, and commitment to helping colleagues and constituents.
-Embody teamwork by enthusiastically taking part in division and office activities, which occasionally require overtime or weekend work.
Minimum Hiring Standards
-Exceptional computer skills required.
-Excellent ability to positively and effectively communicate with varying groups including potential students, parents, and families.
-Strong verbal and written communications skills.
-Ability to work independently and as a team.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
-Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
-Experience in a position with extensive data entry and public contact.
-Strong data entry experience.
-Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
-Some clerical experience.
-Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress, diverse environment.
-The ability to implement university, state, and SEM policies and procedures in order to ensure the most efficient, timely, and cost effective delivery of student support services.
-The ability to undertake multiple tasks with competing deadlines and prioritize daily work accordingly.
-Effectively triage multiple and frequent admissions matters in a timely, courteous, and accurate manner.
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-An unqualified commitment to courteous and timely constituent service.
-Must be willing to work overtime and weekends, as necessary.
Preferred Hiring Standards
-Experience with admissions processing.
-Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
