Technician I, II, III - Audio/Video Services and Engineering

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Utah Valley University is seeking a Technician I, II, or III (DOQ). This position manages the installation, diagnoses and maintenance of media infrastructure campus wide. Acts as a project lead for AV system installs around campus. Supports, troubleshoots and assists faculty/staff users. Strong customer service orientation. Performs specific assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner. Performs all other job-related duties as assigned. Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications:
Level I: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Information Systems or related field and one year of experience which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience totaling three years, two years of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties.

Level II: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Information Systems or related field and two years of experience which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience totaling four years, two of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties.

Level III: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Information Systems or a related field plus three years experience related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience directly totaling five years, four of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working in a customer service, team-oriented, collaborative environment; highly self motivated with the ability to learn quickly.
    *Experience with construction practices and power tools.
  • Knowledge of various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, power point, internet tools, and email systems.
  • Knowledge of installation and support of audio visual equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs.
  • Advanced skills in customer service orientation.
  • Analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Ability to identify tasks, and develop project plans.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and requests based on the organizational goals and objectives of the university.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and perform repairs to media equipment.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with a diversity of personalities effectively and courteously.


Preferred Qualifications:


Physical Requirements:
Frequently climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling reaching, standing, sitting, grasping, pushing/pulling, and talking. Frequent fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.

Occasionally work in confined or crowded areas.

Pay Range: $30,052 - $51,502 annually

Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a Career Ladder position and will be placed at one of the following levels depending on qualifications:
  • Level I: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Technology Management or related field and one year of experience which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience totaling three years, two years of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties. Six months customer service experience preferred.
  • Level II: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in Technology Management or related field and two years of experience which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience totaling four years, two years of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties. Prefer at least one year of industry recognized certification or training applicable to the Summary of Duties.
  • Level III: Graduation from an accredited instituted with an associate’s degree in Technology Management or related field and three years of experience which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience totaling five years, four years of which must be directly related to the Summary of Duties. Prefer one or more certifications or training related to Audio Video Integration and or media support. Examples include: 6 Sigma, CTS, STS-D, CTS-1 or two Manufacture certifications: Crestron, Extron, Cleearone, Milestone, Scala, etc.
