University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary:

Temporary, “non-exempt”, benefited position through 9/30/2021 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). 1 position available.

$3,500-$3,800/month

Department Summary:

Here to Career is a US Department of Education Title V funded program that aims to enhance student career readiness in the digital media disciplines through peer mentoring, internships, and course development.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Project Director, the Transfer Outreach Coordinator will work independently to:
  • Develop, plan, and implement a mentoring program that involves students at each participating campus, faculty and staff members, program participants, or any combination of these persons;
  • Develop, plan and implement activities and workshops geared toward helping program participants obtain an associate's diploma and prepare for success in postsecondary education;
  • Develop, plan and provide program participants with workshops on topics including transfer requirements, GPA, SAT/ACT Scores, College Entrance Exams, levels of proficiency, and appropriate steps to transfer to CSUSB;
  • Develop, plan and provide workshops dedicated to completing CSUSB application and the FAFSA;
  • Develop, plan and implement workshops and curriculum to assist students with career and college exploration;
  • Provide assistance to program participants in preparing for college entrance examinations and to completing college admission applications;
  • Coordinate logistics for a variety of “Here to Career” events including workshops, enrichment activities, field trips, career and college fairs, guest speakers, etc.
  • Work with mentors to monitor student academic progress and develop appropriate interventions;
  • Identify, recruit and monitor students to participate in the program;
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, provide reports, and regularly update the student records management database;
  • Ensure that “Here to Career” is highly publicized in each service school, including distributing brochures, promotional materials and other media;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college entrance application processes, financial aid requirements, scholarships, and programs of study;
  • Address student concerns when issues arise;
  • Assist with collecting data for the Annual Performance Reports (including collection, accuracy and verification of data);
  • Participate in program and department meetings;
  • Travel to school sites required;
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Service or other related field.
  • Experience:
    • The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of two years professional experience in college readiness and/or outreach programs.
    • Must have experience with recruiting students, student records management/training, preparing workshops, coordinating student services, and serving as a liaison to target schools.
    • Must have experience with FAFSA and other financial resources such as grants, work study, loan forgiveness, and scholarships.
  • Other:
    • Strong organizational, management, leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required.
    • Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, exercise sound judgment, determine priorities, complete assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under tight deadlines.
    • Applicants must possess the following critical strengths including, but not limited to: reliability, attention to detail, and strong self-initiative
    • Must possess the ability to work with students and set a positive example.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Strong preference will be given to candidates who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target population.
    • Bilingual (Spanish), strongly preferred.
    • Must demonstrate work experience with or the ability to participate and facilitate activities listed above and in grant narrative
