Sr. Associate Director of Development, The Brady Urological Institute
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Senior Associate Director of Development will play a lead role in helping to shape the priorities and operations of the Brady Urological Institute Development Office, and will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of major and principal fundraising efforts for the benefit of the Brady from friends, grateful patients, and foundations. Serving as a thought partner for the Director of Development and working with senior development staff members across Johns Hopkins, as well as faculty, care providers, administrators, and volunteer leaders, the Senior Associate Director will identify, strategize, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of prospects. The Senior Associate Director will partner with members of the Kimmel Cancer Center Development Office in supporting programming and fundraising for the Johns Hopkins Greenberg Bladder Cancer Institute. This position will supervise the Brady’s Assistant Director of Development, providing oversight and strategy for annual fund, stewardship and constituent engagement activities. Travel is associated with this role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the research, teaching and clinical programs and priorities, and development procedures of Johns Hopkins University, the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and the Brady Urological Institute, in order to represent these needs both internally and externally.
Background Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five or more years of professional development experience, with a track record of securing five and six figure gifts, preferably in an academic/medical setting. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Some planned giving experience preferred.
- Must possess effective communication skills, be highly organized, have strong written and analytical skills, and be capable of developing solid relationships with faculty, colleagues and grateful patients.
- Supervisory or significant project management experience preferred.
- High levels of diplomacy and tact required.
- Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously, understand the need to re-evaluate priorities on a regular basis, and flourish in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- A team mentality with a willingness to collaborate is necessary.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
