The School of Communication at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor for the Entertainment and Recording Industry Management Program. The prospective faculty member will teach courses at both the Undergraduate and Graduate level. This is a 9-month tenure-track.

Essential Duties Summary

• Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Advises students.
• Participating in professional activities including internal and external conferences and seminars.
• Other duties within the range of skills normally associated with a position of this classification in an evolving teaching and learning environment.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range $48,884.00 - $67,215.00 Education

Ph.D. or Terminal Degree in Audio Production/Entertainment and Recording Industry Management or related area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
• Evidence of significant production skills using audio production and sound equipment. Proficiency in using and teaching various editing/audio production software is preferred.
• Must possess working knowledge and extensive background in publishing, recording, management, audio production, merchandising and branding.
Skill in:
• Detail oriented.
• Effective customer service.
• Problem-solving and decision-making.
• Multitasking and time management.
• Both verbal and written communication.

Ability to:
• Work with a diverse student population.
• Maintain industry relationships supporting curriculum, student co-ops, and creative collaborations with the university’s Music Industry Program.
• Integrate professional experiences into courses taught.
• Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations.

Work Experience

Minimum five years of experience in teaching in higher education.

Demonstrable depth, breadth and working knowledge of entertainment and recording music industry preferred.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Prolonged standing and/or walking.
Handling light weight objects.
Using or carrying equipment.
