Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Academic Affairs Program Director

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is seeking an educator/learning specialist to deliver high quality workshops and other learning experiences, as well as development programs to faculty. The DEI Academic Affairs Program Director ( Assistant Director II) designs, customizes, and implements capacity building programs and activities that address the professional development of faculty, as it relates to the University’s strategic diversity agenda and related goals. The DEI Academic Affairs Program Director must engage and inform attendees through data-informed and research-based presentations and/or curriculum, inspire them by sharing current organizational best practices, and empower them through practical action steps they can take after workshops, learning programs, or events.

Session content will focus on critical equity, diversity and inclusion topics such as inclusive leadership, unconscious bias and microaggressions, antiracism, and allyship. The DEI Academic Affairs Program Director will leverage strong interpersonal and organizational skills to coordinate and execute inclusive excellence, including outcomes-based measures toward learning and the further development of capacity-building training, programming, and initiatives.

Reporting to the Executive Director of DEI, the role will oversee all logistics and the execution of educational programming related to equity, diversity, and inclusion to identify successes and areas of opportunity. The individual will be a critically thinking, results-oriented problem-solver and communicator who will work closely with the Executive Director of DEI to support the development and implementation of a suite of learning programs and/or workshops to address anti-bias and antiracist goals, objectives and initiatives. The DEI Academic Affairs Program Director will work with DEI, academic affairs, and other relevant departments and units within the University to identify and implement relevant workshops and other educational programming. The individual may also conduct small group and/or individual coaching for faculty who may be in need of targeted support and/or guidance. The DEI Academic Affairs Program Director may identify external organizations for potential partnerships and establish potential vendor relationships within the purview of inclusive excellence learning and development. This position requires travel and a flexible scheduling including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and two years of professional experience in a position related to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives is required. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: multicultural affairs, diversity and/or social justice education, community organizing, event planning, intercultural education, training and academic programming. Candidate must have the ability to use social media to build a social media outreach strategy; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; and have the ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with diverse individuals/groups.
