Position Summary:

This position functions as the receptionist and cashier for clients and patients of the small animal clinic of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). This is a key position in which the incumbent must develop considerable knowledge of policy and procedures in all areas of UWVC for smooth and efficient clinic operation. Incumbent must have well-developed skills in multi-tasking, organization, independent and creative problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. This position requires the ability to make independent judgements. A background in medical terminology is helpful in order to best serve clients and hospital staff. Requires excellent communication skills and customer service skills. This position is performed under the general supervision of the Reception Desk Supervisor.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Additional Information:

Appropriate hand and physical dexterity for telephone, computer, copy machine, and fax operation.
Able to sit for long periods of time.
Able to stand, walk, and occasionally carry objects up to 30 lbs.
Able to stand in medical records aisles and reach up and down for records, and occasionally use a step stool to reach records on high shelves.

Work Schedule:

Sunday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM with a 15 min break
Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM - 4:15 PM with a 45-minute break

Potential for weekend, evening, and on-call shifts, as required by the hospital.

Holiday coverage responsibilities, 1-3 holiday shifts a year.
