Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting a variety of human resources activities in the areas of recruitment, classification, compensation, payroll, and benefits. This position also supports financial and business processes, including budget management.

This position reports to the Division for Teaching and Learning Administrative Director, who leads division human resources and finance/budget practices.

The Division for Teaching and Learning (DTL) is a newly reorganized division with an average of 130 part or full employees, 70+ student employees, and a budget exceeding $8 million. The division has four main departments; the Office of Undergraduate Advising (OUA), the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring (CTLM), the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE), and the Student Learning Assessment office.

DTL seeks an individual who is interested in supporting multiple units in human resources, finance, and general administrative support and demonstrates the ability to:

- Share complex information in a clear, concise, and organized manner in both verbal and written forms.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Experience and Skills:
- Two to three years of combined relevant work experience in the areas of human resources, payroll, finance, and office management required.
- A high degree of cultural sensitivity and awareness in working with people of diverse ethnicities, cultures, social and economic backgrounds. Commitment to anti-racism work.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work quickly and accurately with strict time deadlines and under pressure. Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently to manage and coordinate multiple complex projects and programs.
- Must be able to exercise superior judgment and skill in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand and consistently communicate mission and messaging.
- Excellent skills in business software.
- Self-motivated and proactive working style, personable and welcoming attitude and proven ability to collaborate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn G Suite (Google), WordPress, and other software applications
- Working knowledge of UW-Madison policies and procedures
- Knowledge of UW System policies and procedures related to travel, purchasing, and event management is preferred
