Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics Department encourages applications for an Associate Director of Compliance. This position will assist the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Office of Compliance Services, and ensure a comprehensive compliance program covering NCAA, Pac-12 Conference and Institutional rules and regulations with a focus on eligibility and personnel.

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Eligibility:
  • Conduct Initial, Transfer and International Student-Athlete Eligibility Reviews. Coordinate incoming student-athlete arrival process related to eligibility and amateurism. Communicate with coaches, staff and PSAs related to initial eligibility. Work closely with Eligibility Certification Officer from the Registrar's Office. Assist in APR review, PTD waivers and other eligibility-related scenarios. Serve as OCS Liaison to admissions, international admissions and the Registrar's Office. Prepare and present timely rules education sessions as necessary.

Personnel:
  • Lead all aspects of the Office of Compliance Services' Bylaw 11 program. Monitor staff designation, student managers and Graduate Assistant Coaches. Conduct annual rule's education for campus constituents and internal departments. Conduct coaches exam and practice monitoring related to non-coaching staff members. Review potential new hires related to IAWP and conduct new hire orientation.

Interpretations:
  • Provide coverage of interpretations related to NCAA legislation and Pac-12 Conference rules and regulations. Stay current with NCAA, Pac-12 and institutional legislation and rules via professional development.

Camps and Clinics:
  • Serve as the Office of Compliance Services approval for institutional and noninstitutional camps and clinics. Develop IAWP review process. Work closely with the Director of Camps and Special Projects.

Other Duties as Assigned:
  • By the Senior Associate AD for Compliance, including but not limited to, service on the Compliance Review Committee and the weekly HOC Roundtable with academics, financial aid and the registrar's office. Assist with the investigation and reporting of Level III violations.

  • The work schedule is 8 am - 5 pm M-F with some event attendance outside standard work hours.


What We Can Offer
  • The salary range is $60,000- $65,000 annually.

What We Require
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of three years of compliance experience at a Division I, FBS institution, at the national headquarters, or a conference office, including proven knowledge of NCAA rules in the area of eligibility and experience with NCAA applications.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations to ensure compliance with NCAA applications and academic integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong service mentality and proven attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with NCAA Applications.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master’s Degree, six years of compliance experience at a Division I, FBS institution, at the national headquarters, or a conference office.
  • Experience working in high pressure situations and collaboration with coaches, campus colleagues and external constituents.
  • Significant experience in working with NCAA Eligibility and NCAA Bylaw 14.
